How we do it
How do we install a new water service?
The public side and the private side are handled separately. We coordinate both.
- Size it from the fixture count and demand of the new house.
- Coordinate with the municipality for the city-side connection and meter.
- Trench and install the private-side line to the house.
- Main shut-off and meter location placed where they are easy to reach.
- Pressure test and inspection.

What affects the cost of a water service?
We quote a fixed price from drawings or a site visit. These are the things that move the number.
Distance
Length from the property line to the house.
Line size
Larger homes need a larger line.
Excavation
Landscaping, driveways and trees along the route.
Municipal fees
City-side work and meter are billed by the municipality.
Material
Copper or approved plastic service pipe.
Timing
Installing during excavation for a new house is cheapest.

Common questions
Who installs the city side of the water service?
Typically the municipality handles the city side up to the property line, and a licensed plumber installs the private side to the house. We coordinate the timing.
How big should the water service be?
It depends on the number of fixtures and demand. Large custom homes with many bathrooms and irrigation usually need a larger line than older houses had. We size it from your drawings.
Can I reuse the old service on a rebuild?
Only if it is the right size and material. Old galvanized or lead services should be replaced.
Do you do lot severances?
Yes. Each new home needs its own water service and sewer connection, and we plan both.
