Common questions
How much is the subsidy?
As of May 1, 2026 the City of Toronto offers up to $6,650 per property under the expanded Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program, for eligible work completed on or after November 12, 2025. Each type of work has its own lifetime maximum.
What work is eligible?
A plumbing assessment, backwater valves (up to two) and alarms, a sump pump with alarm and battery backup, and severing and capping the storm sewer or external weeping tile connection. Downspout disconnection is not eligible.
Who can apply?
Owners of single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes and fourplexes in Toronto, online after the work is done.
